Family Handbook
2024/2025
Welcome from the Head of School
It is my pleasure to welcome new and returning families to The York School for the 2024-25 school year. We are delighted to have your family in our school community.
This Family Handbook includes all the information you need to have a successful year, whether you are just joining us or have been at the school for years.
Since 1965, The York School has been nurturing curious learners to become globally-minded leaders with integrity and purpose. We take a relationship based approach to education and prioritize the wellbeing and belonging of our students, faculty and staff. We’re proud to partner with families like yours to foster a welcoming, supportive community where our learners can thrive as their authentic selves. Guided by this approach, we strive to create class sizes that range from 16 - 22 students.
At York, we deeply value the home-school partnership. An important aspect of that relationship is communication – that includes communication from the school to families and vice versa. To that end, the school sends a weekly e-newsletter, The Flash, which includes important dates and need-to-know information about each division. We ask that all parents read The Flash to ensure that you are up-to-date. As well, please make sure your contact coordinates are accurate on Yorknet so that you receive all necessary communication from the school. The school calendar is a valuable tool for tracking your child(ren)’s activities. This is a video on how to sync your personal calendar with the school’s and a document that lists all of York’s calendar feeds. We also encourage you to follow us on social media for additional updates about the activities taking place at our Junior, Middle and Senior Schools.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to be on this learning journey with you. We look forward to seeing you in September!
Sincerely,
Struan Robertson
Head of School
